Hello my name is Angela Sienda. My husband Ted and I own 6th Ave Spectacles. I first got into the optical industry in 1984 when I attended Seattle Central College and got my AAS degree in Ophthalmic Dispensing. I worked as a licensed optician for retail opticals in the Seattle area. I always enjoyed being an optician. I love working with people and I was really good at frame selection and adjustments. I believe that adjusting glasses is an art.
In 1996 I became an ophthalmic lab representative and helped physicians and their staff with optical needs and training. In 2017 my husband and I opened the 6th Ave Goddess short term rentals in a triplex we bought on 6th Ave. We renovated both apartments while keeping their historic charm. In 2019 I started working at a retail optical. I had been working in the pharmaceutical industry for 20 years and needed to rehone my optical skills. There were some pretty big changes to the industry in that time: Computers, Online ordering and new lens technology. What surprised me the most was the shift from a more service oriented industry to one of selling. I realized that there was a need for an optical with personalized service, unique frames as well as affordable prices.
6th Ave Spectacles is located on the lower level of the 6th Ave Goddess short term rentals. We own the building and I am the only employee, we are able to keep our prices lower than most independent opticals. Working by appointment gives me the ability to be open 7 days a week.
